MEFCC update: An interview with Arafaat Ali Khan

MEFCC update: An interview with Arafaat Ali Khan

Live long and comic-con.

This year's first Middle East Film and Comic Con was brilliant. Soon after its wrap-up, ExtraCake P.R.A., the company who made it all happen, announced the second event to be held on the 5th and 6th of April, 2013.
In a recent interview with the director of ExtraCake P.R.A. Arafaat Ali Khan, we got a chance to ask him a few questions about the event's success and what we should expect from the next one.

A Stormtropper trying to find his way around MEFCC 2012.

Q: How was the reception of the first Middle Eastern Comic Con to be held in Dubai? Were you happy with the turnout?
Arafaat: We were overjoyed with the reception and the turnout from fans in our first year! Not only did close to 15,000 fans come down from across the region and the world but everyone really joined in. We could never have predicted so many costumes and people just having fun and even our celebrity guests and artists were full of praise after the show.
The feedback from the fans has been overwhelmingly fantastic with many calling to the best event they had every been to so we’ve got a lot to live up to!
Q: How would you expect the next convention to be like? In what terms would it be bigger and better than the first one?
Bigger and better is the plan and we’re working hard to take things to the next level. We learned a lot in our first year and we want to make sure that there is more space, more content and more crazy activities throughout the weekend so even those fans who are returning have a new experience! We’ve also moved the dates forward for example to consider the weather and we’ll be building on the festival element strongly while celeb signing and gaming areas will also be much bigger.
Q: What keeps you going and energetic about organizing and giving your 110% for the future cons to come?
It isn’t difficult to keep energetic about this event to be honest because it was so much fun and the response from the fans was inspiring. We’re of course fans ourselves as well and it’s our goal to make the MEFCC the most amazing entertainment event in the region!
Interview with Max Landis at MEFCC 2012. He is insane!
Q: What should we, the audience, expect for the coming convention?
We’re adding to the festival element of the event with musical guests and more on-stage madness but everything fans loved from the previous event will be back. Celebrities from Film and TV, anime and comic book publishers and artists, merchandise & collectibles vendors, movie screenings, panel discussions, workshops, cosplay, gaming and loads more!
The guest roster is being finalised soon too so we’re encouraging everyone to check our social media pages and the website at www.mefcc.com to stay up-to-date!
Q: Last question! Who would you personally love to add to the guest list?
This could be a really long list but it would have to be someone like Stan Lee probably!
